Zoo!

We went to the zoo today. I haven't been to any zoo in several years, so it was nice to have a look around. Particularly given the nice weather.

We were lucky enough to see the seals being trained, and I got some photos.

The flamingos were not fenced off, so we were able to walk right past them and get close to them. There were a good 20 or 30 of them right near the entrance. There were even some baby ones, but annoyingly the photos I took were blurred. On the plus side, I was able to get a few good photos of the flamingos themselves. So here's one:

The penguin pool was also impressive. They had a cute little slide that they ran down. This one came right up close to us near the plastic barrier.

The zoo was awesome. As always in zoos, the food and souvenirs were ridiculously overpriced. Of course, the logic behind that is wanting to raise as much money as possible while remaining open to as many people as possible (thus requiring a low price). Even so, it makes it significantly more desirable to bring your own food.

Chinese Festival

There was a Chinese festival in town a few days ago. At least, I think that's what it was. We hadn't intentionally gone, so when we were walking along the street and came across a giant egg, we were slightly confused as to what was happening.

Giant eggs: Not a normal occurance in the street

After a while, we discovered some impressive giant dragons walking down the road. You know, as you do.

DRAGONS!

I still haven't exactly figured out precisely what it was. Except that it was a Chinese festival. I'm not sure what it involves, what it represents or what takes place. Except that there are, for some reason, giant dragons and giant dragon eggs in the street.
On the plus side, giant dragons and giant dragon eggs in the street! Who cares what it was about?!

Woohoo!
